On the afternoon of Friday, 18 November, Divine Intervention School’s new Energy Club was inaugurated at a gathering of students from Class V to Class X. The club is established in accordance with central and state government recommendations, which encourage every school to run such a club so that school students can be involved in auditing and raising awareness of energy consumption in their local area.
The event included speeches by the Principal and Maggie (a Class IX member of the club), and a powerpoint presentation by Miss Chhanpuii who is leading the club at Divine Intervention School. The club consists of twenty enthusiastic members of Class IX who have each received materials with which to conduct their audit. It is hoped that they will make a difference they can be proud of in the future, and that they will be able to pass the baton on to other students in the following years.
